In observance of World Environment Day 2026 and coinciding with the 36th Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, the Dzongkhag Administration, Tsirang, in close collaboration with the Dratshang, Regional Offices, Damphu Town, Gewog Administrations, and local communities, carried out a mass cleaning campaign on 4th June 2026 across various locations under the Dzongkhag.
The campaign was organized with the objective of promoting environmental cleanliness and sustainability, while also fostering a strong sense of civic responsibility and community participation among the public. The initiative brought together officials, monks, residents, volunteers, and community members in a collective effort to maintain clean surroundings and create greater awareness on the importance of proper waste management practices, sanitation, and environmental conservation.
The cleaning campaign focused on the collection and proper disposal of waste materials from public spaces, roadsides, drainage areas, marketplaces, institutions, and other common areas to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for all. The event also served as a reminder of the shared responsibility of every citizen in protecting and preserving the environment through sustainable practices and active public participation.
Through this initiative, the Dzongkhag Administration reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting a clean, green, and healthy environment in line with national efforts on environmental protection and community well-being, while also paying tribute to the compassionate leadership and inspiring vision of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.
