A Livestock Aggregator Group comprising more than 30 members has been successfully formed in Tsirang Dzongkhag. The initiative was facilitated by the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC) in collaboration with the Regional Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives Office (RAMCO), Gelephu, and the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Tsirang.
The primary objective of forming the group is to strengthen collective marketing, improve livestock value chain coordination, and enhance income opportunities for farmers through better market access and the aggregation of livestock products.
During the formation process, officials from DAMC and RAMCO, Gelephu, provided technical guidance and orientation to the members on group management, roles and responsibilities, and the benefits of collective action. The Dzongkhag also extended support in mobilizing participants and facilitating coordination at the local level.
The establishment of the Livestock Aggregator Group is expected to improve bargaining power, ensure a consistent supply to markets, and promote sustainable livestock development in the region.
