Census

The Census Section of Tsirang Dzongkhag Administration is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of the population within the dzongkhag. It manages vital functions related to civil registration, including birth registration, issuance of citizenship identity cards (CID), household registration, and migration updates. The section ensures that all changes in family composition, address, or civil status are properly recorded and reflected in the national civil registry system.

Background

This section also plays a key role during the national population census and voter registration exercises, ensuring that data is correctly collected, verified, and reported. It works in close coordination with the Department of Civil Registration and Census under the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs. Through its services, the Census Section supports citizens in accessing social benefits, legal identity, and government services, while also contributing to effective planning and governance at the local level.

  • To develop and maintain accurate database on all citizens and Special Residence Permit (SRP) holders.
  • To enhance and simplify the citizenship identity cards, SRP and other nationality documents issuance system.
  • To improve and deliver customer care services through the optimal use of information, communication and technology.
  • To maintain and generate complete demographic data through an automated system

  6. Replacement of CID/SRP cards
  7. Name change and date of birth correction in CID
  8. Census transfer within Gewog or Dzongkhag or other inter-Dzongkhag
  9. Census appeal cases(Census drop-out cases (DO); Census up-gradation(UG); Absconded(AB); Emigrant(EM))
  10. Issuance of Relationship Certificate
