Tsholingkhar
Tsholingkhar Gewog is a thriving and strategically located gewog under Tsirang Dzongkhag, situated just about 8 kilometers from the Dzongkhag Administration. Its proximity to the district center and presence of the national highway make it one of the most accessible and economically active gewogs in the region.
It covers a total area of 13.72 square kilometers and lies at an elevation ranging from 500 to 1400 meters above sea level. The gewog consists of five chiwogs, with 426 households and a total population of 3,781—comprising 2,160 males and 1,621 females. The land use pattern includes 906.2 acres of dry land, 575.5 acres of wetland, 15.80 acres under cardamom cultivation, and 127.4 acres of orange orchards. Agriculture is the main source of livelihood, with maize and paddy as the staple crops widely cultivated by farmers, along with a variety of seasonal vegetables. In addition, piggery and dairy farming are the main sources of livestock production, significantly contributing to household income.
The gewog also produces oranges and cardamom, which are marketed both within and outside the Dzongkhag. The presence of the Wangdue-Tsirang highway has boosted the local economy by improving connectivity and access to markets. To further support agriculture and transport, the gewog has about 40 kilometers of farm roads and 23 irrigation channels stretching a total of 71 kilometers.
Tsholingkhar Gewog is equipped with essential public services and infrastructure, including one primary school, RNR Centre, three Non-Formal Education (NFE) centers, two Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centers, and a Community Centre (CC), making up a total of 19 civil servant at Gewog that deliver a range of services to the public. The public of the Gewog avail their health services from Damphu Hospital at Kilkhorthang Gewog. The gewog is fully electrified and enjoys 100 percent mobile network coverage from both Bhutan Telecom and TashiCell, ensuring reliable communication and access to information for all residents.
