With major rivers such as the Punatsangchhu flowing nearby and fertile valleys throughout the district, Tsirang supports both natural ecosystems and sustainable agriculture. The greenery and forest cover not only enhance the beauty of the landscape but also contribute to clean air, water conservation, and soil fertility.
Background
Environmental conservation is a priority for the dzongkhag administration, with continuous efforts to promote eco-friendly practices, prevent forest degradation, and manage waste effectively. Initiatives such as tree plantation, protection of water sources, and awareness campaigns on waste segregation are regularly undertaken in collaboration with communities and schools. Tsirang is also known for its ban on plastic carry bags, reflecting the district’s commitment to environmental sustainability and aligning with Bhutan’s overall vision of Gross National Happiness and environmental preservation.
