Kilkhorthang

Kilkhorthang is the most developed and commercial gewog in Tsirang Dzongkhag. The gewog is located in the heart of Tsirang Dzongkhag with an area of 17.80sq.km and has altitude, which ranges from 900 to 1600 meters above the sea level with hot summers and cold winters. The gewog consists of five chewogs namely Dekiling, Menchuna, Nyizergang, Satsangma, and Tashiyangjong. It has a total 521 Households including Non Registered (NR) with population of 4936 consisting of 2485 Male and 2481 female. The forest coverage of the gewog is 65% of the land area. All the villages are connected with electricity and telecommunication facilities.

The Wangdue Sarpang Highway together with Salami to Doonglagang feeder road provides access to most of the villages. Almost all the Households benefits from having access to pipe water facility, the gewog has four vegetable groups, one Gonor Thuenkey Datshen and community forest Group. Agricultural land use is dominated by wetland and dry land cultivation. The principal crops grown are paddy and maize. Mandarin dominates other cash crops as the main source of cash income for the farmers. The gewog is one of the highest mandarin growers in the Dzongkhag.

The gewog is one of the highest mandarin growers in the Dzongkhag. The gewog has potential for commercial business since the gewog is just 6km away from Damphu town and the place has favorable conditions to grow various vegetables hence, it has an ability to produce huge amount of vegetables. The gewog has high potential to produce diary product since most of the villagers are seen rearing cattle than poultry and piggery.

With food security as a top priority, the village relies on its agriculture output to sustain itself, ensuring that its residents have access to nutritious food. The gewog holds the potential for commercial business since the gewog is only 6km away from Damphu town and the place has favorable conditions to grow various vegetables hence, it has ability for growth and prosperity, paving the way for a sustainable future.
