The Bhutan Computer Incident Response Team (BtCIRT) conducted a Cybersecurity Awareness Session for Dzongkhag and regional staff under Tsirang Dzongkhag on 3rd April 2026 to enhance awareness of common cyber threats and promote good cyber hygiene. The session covered key topics such as password managers, safe use of AI tools, secure browsing, and email security. Participants were introduced to threats like phishing, online scams, fraud, and deepfakes, with guidance on how to recognize and avoid them. It also included information on complaint procedures and an overview of the GovTech structure and its departments.

The program emphasized protecting systems and sensitive information through basic cybersecurity measures, including strong passwords, 2FA/multi-factor authentication, regular system updates, safe downloading practices, and data backup. It also shared facts on the current cybercrime situation in Bhutan and common types of scams. The session aimed to improve understanding of cyber threats, promote better cyber hygiene and responsible online behavior, enhance organizational resilience and data safety, increase reporting of suspicious incidents, raise awareness of existing cybercrime laws, and brief participants on the online fraud reporting mechanism.
