World Toilet Day: Almost all the people of Tsirang Dzongkhag is now accessible to clean flush toilet after it was declared that 9 Gewogs have 100% clean flush toilet accessibility while rest three Gewogs have achieved more than 90% accessibility. This was announced during the World Toilet Day observed in Dunglagang Gewog, also the first Gewog which successfully implemented the project in Tsirang, on November 19, 2019. Nationally, 41 Gewogs now have access to clean flush toilet among which Mongar Dzongkhag had first covered the entire district with clean toilet accessibility while Samdrup Jongkhar has just covered its accessibility. Tsirang is expected to gear up its 100% coverage within a shortest span of one year. The clean toilet construction project has thus far implemented in 11 districts.
A report book named "Handwashing in School- Knowledge Attitude Practice (KAP)" and "Mensuration Hygience Management (MHM) in Schools and Nunneries" were also jointly launched by the Hin'ble Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
Organized by Rural sanitation and Hygiene Programme, Public Health Engineering Division, Ministry of Health in collaboration with UNICEF, SNV and Tsirang Dzongkhag, Dasho Dr. Ugyen Dophu, the then Hon'ble Secretary of the Ministry of Health graced the day long event. Its the 6th consecutive year that the World Toilet Day is observed i Bhutan.
