In the 5th International Taekwondo Championship held in Thimphu from 31st May to 4th June, Tsirang Taekwondo Team lead by Master Doten Dorji brought 3 medals from 3 different category of championship. Five countries which participated in the championship are Bhutan,India,Bangladesh,Malaysia and Nepal. It was organized by Thimphu Private Club.
Nine students of Damphu Lower Secondary School participated in the championship. Ashika Rai of class VIII won the gold medal in the category of under 42Kg. Rinzin Gyeltshen of class VI bagged the silver medal under 21 Kg category and Tshering Tashi of class VIII bagged Bronze medal in the 51KG category.
Tsirang Dzongkhag received the Certificate of Appreciation for representing the country in the Championship.
